How To Live In The Moment And Find Happiness
Too much thinking is a recipe for disaster in just about any situation in life.
If you live too far in the future, you’ll have a ton of anxiety, and if you think too much about past mistakes, you’ll never move forward.
The key to success in life is staying in the moment. When you live in the now, you can’t get bogged down with thoughts that weigh you down. Your reality is right in front of you.
There’s a reason so many great spiritual teachers talk about mindfulness.
When you enjoy the moment, you seem more fun and carefree to other people. Not only does this make you more fun to be around, but it also makes you way more attractive to women.
People, whether they know it or not, are drawn to positivity. When you present yourself as someone who is all about being positive, they’ll flock to you.
Your social value goes through the roof, and it’ll feel like you aren’t even trying.
The unfortunate thing is that we live in a society that makes us obsess about our past mistakes and worry incessantly about the future.
However, with a little work, you can train your brain to stay in the moment for life.
Live In The Present: The Path To Happiness
When you live in the moment, you are literally incapable of being unhappy. Being grounded and enjoying every second as it comes, makes you realize how great it is just to be alive.
If you’re having trouble stopping your mind from racing, try some meditation. There’s a form called mindfulness meditation, in which you focus on a specific thought or object and nothing else.
By doing this, you shut the mind off and make it focus on one thing instead of several. It teaches you self-control over the mind, and gives you a greater power over your emotions.
When you meditate, don’t just close your eyes and hope that you feel something. Make a checklist, and try to observe the following things when you start:
- Sensations in the body
- Good and bad thoughts
- The immediate environment
- Any tensions or tightness in the body
By becoming aware of these things, you bring your awareness back to the moment and get into the habit of living in the now.
When you teach yourself to live in the present, you start to realize that your thoughts aren’t usually relevant.
How To Enjoy The Moment
Part of the reason people have a hard time enjoying the moment, or getting satisfaction out of simplicity is because they turn to external things for gratification.
A drink here or a Netflix binge there is fine, but when these things start to take over, it gets a lot harder to enjoy the moment.
Do an inventory on yourself, and try to get a feel for how much you rely on things outside of yourself to make you feel good.
Maybe you turn to food, alcohol or porn to self-medicate; the point is, your goal should be to live a more natural life.
Learn how to appreciate things that you wouldn’t otherwise notice. Buddhist monks are known for being some of the happiest people around, and they can spend hours staring at a wall.
That’s a little extreme for most, but a small goal should be to re-learn how to enjoy things that are actually good for you.
Being out in nature, socializing and connecting with people are all great ways to stay in the moment, and enjoy life. Of course, approaching women should also be a regular part of your life.
It’s natural, fun and when it goes well, grounds you in reality.
The Easiest Way To Be In The Moment
If meditating isn’t your thing, there are a lot of other natural things you can do to bring yourself back to the present moment.
Anything exhilarating or naturally stimulating will remind you that you’re alive and help clear your mind.
Cold showers are a great example. They’ve been proven to temporarily shock the brain, and heighten awareness. Basically, being in freezing cold water makes it pretty hard to think about anything else.
Think of it as a way of forcing mindfulness. Make the water as cold as possible, and get in gradually until your whole body is getting hit with the water.
Within a couple of seconds, you’ll be focused on one thing and one thing only: the cold.
It may be unpleasant but, like most things, the benefits are well worth the downsides. Intermittent fasting is another thing you can try to get back in touch with your body.
You don’t have to go the whole day without eating, but try skipping breakfast and then see how you feel.
You’ll be more alert, more focused and less distracted by the little mental hang-ups that nag you from time to time.
Understand And Live In The Now
When you understand what the now is, you realize it’s the only reality that really exists.
Your concerns about the time you looked stupid in front of a group of people, or your anxiety about saving money are illusory.
The only thing that really exists is the moment that you’re currently living in. Life, when you really think about it, is just a series of moments that come one after another. When you realize this, living in the now becomes practically automatic.
It’s definitely a very intuitive thing to realize, and you’ll know it when you do. People will treat you differently, and your outlook on life will totally change. Best of all, women will be all over you.
The last thing any girl wants is a guy who moves too fast, or a guy who can’t let go of the past. A guy that’s fun, spontaneous and easy to be around is pretty much a home run to a girl.
If you aren’t sure if you’re living in the now, just learn to be mindful of your own thoughts. Ask yourself these questions on a daily basis:
- Am I focused too much on the future?
- Am I dwelling on things I can’t change?
- Am I fully aware of my surroundings?
- Are my thoughts getting out of control?
Be honest with yourself, and strive for a state of mind that is thoughtless. It takes time and practice, but once you can shut your mind off, you’ll start to see the world in an entirely new way.
Focus on the now, and you’ll never have any trouble calming yourself down, getting into a happy state of mind, and being a positive influence on the people around you.
Make An Effort To Enjoy EVERY Moment
Happiness is a choice, whether we believe it or not. You just have to recognize your inner-mental state and then address it.
If you choose to enjoy every moment, no matter how boring or unstimulating they are, you’ll eventually get to a point where you experience moments of intense bliss.
We are taught to put a lot of pressure on ourselves, and not focus enough on being happy. When you make a conscious effort to enjoy life, a surprising thing starts to happen: you actually start to enjoy it.
The first step is appreciating every moment, and realizing how incredible it is that you’re actually alive. If you don’t live in the moment, it’s very hard to keep this idea in mind.
However, once you ground yourself, and start to see the value in just being, you’ll start to change. You’ll attract more positivity, and you’ll get closer to being exactly who and what you want to be.
