Details Of New iPhone 8 Emerge, Could Change The Future Of Phones
Every time an announcement of a new iPhone emerges, regardless if you’re upgrading or not, even if you don’t actually have an iPhone, it becomes a huge event.
I remember being shunned for not knowing the details of the new iPhone 6 a day after it’s release. “I should have known weeks ago” I was told. Well, I crawled so you could fly: here’s what you can expect from the upcoming iPhone 8.
A report by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday revealed the new rollout will include a high-end model that costs $1,000 and features two new hardware improvements. The first being curved OLED screen — first seen in the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge — and a new iPhone’s USB-C port.
The newest iPhones today have an Apple-exclusive lightning port for inter-device connectivity, forcing consumers to buy additional adaptors and extensions if they wanted to hook their phone up to any non-apple device. This move is significant because it could imply a new broad-scale approach in terms of positioning product in response to the rest of the smart-tech marketplace.
Because the next iPhones will be 10th-anniversary phones, it’s safe to expect something monumental from the software giant.
One of the speculations — which are always fun to entertain– is that the new iPhone will come with a wireless charging feature. Apple recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium, a tech coalition that seeks to standardize and normalize wireless charging capacities across all our most common devices, so one could assume this may be a feature they are implementing.
Regardless of how special this phone edition will be, it is expected to sell alongside the standard versions of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus, meaning the look will not be too far off.
Curved screens or not, it seems that Apple consumers have made up their minds that every new product update is a must-have.
