I Make a Living Creating Successful Dating Profiles for Men: Here’s My Top 5 Tips

Praise the Dating Gods; the stigma of online dating has officially been lifted – and no, it wasn’t because of Hilary Duff’s awkward Tinder date/music video. With the dating trends moving toward online connections at an insanely fast pace, you need to tighten up your online dating profile skills. It doesn’t matter how charming you are in person; if your online profile sucks, you’re going to be passed up for another guy with a solid profile.
As always, the staff at The Social Man has got your back. When you begin crafting your online dating profile, incorporate these 5 secrets and watch your inbox begin to flood. (No lifejacket required.)
1. Cheese belongs on nachos, not in your bio
Cheesy lines can be good and charming as long as they’re original. Writing “I love long walks on the beach! Lol!” is about as original as a girl dressing up as a slutty bunny for Halloween – sounds like a good idea but everyone else is doing it too.
Instead, show your own personality by writing about you, your hobbies, and what you’re looking for in an honest and straightforward way. Remember, you only have so many characters to express who you are, so make them count.
2. Pictures matter
Putting yourself out there can be scary, but you have to take big risks to gain big rewards, right? So suck it up, and upload your pics no matter how shy you feel. Writing that you’ll send pictures in messages only makes girls think that you’re a catfish. Hiding your pictures makes us think that you’re not comfortable really putting yourself out there, which is a huge turn off. No one is going to laugh if they find out you’re on a dating site because guess what – they’re on it too!

3. Don’t forget to talk about her in your bio
Write as if you’re talking to only one person, and don’t forget to include what you like about her. This is a chance to compliment your date before you even get to know her.
Here’s a good example: I’m looking for a girl (and I’m hoping that’s you) who has a beautiful smile, an adventurous streak, and a great laugh.
Here’s a bad example: Ladies, I’m ready to hang out with a down-to-earth chick, so hit me up.
This little secret makes her want to be that girl with a great smile, fun personality, or whatever positive trait or characteristic you write. She’ll see those awesome qualities and want to fill that role.
4. Keep emojis out of your bio
The same goes for adding quotation marks for emphasis. If you need a winky face to emphasis your point, the statement you’re trying to make isn’t clear enough. Leave the emojis, numbers, and abbreviations out of your bio and reserve them for tweets, Instagram hashtags, and Facebook posts. There’s a time and place for smileys, #funnyhashtags, and “air quotes” – your bio, however, isn’t one of them.
You should not exaggerate your sexual abilities in your profile, because it is not known whether you will be able to take on time.
5. Finish your bio with a call to action
This is always where guys drop the ball, but not you. No. You’ve got this secret tip so now you’re going to succeed where other guys have failed.
Do not end your bio on a weak note. ‘If you like this, send me a message’ won’t cut it. You want to be unique, different, and, most importantly, you want to make it easy for her to send you a message. So give her directions.
If you wrote in your bio that you’re a horror movie fanatic, tell her to send you a message with the name of her favorite horror movie. Doing this not only proves that you care about what she has to say, but it also creates an instant connection through a shared interest.
Remember, your dating profile is the first glimpse a potential date will see into who you are, so make it light, fun, and flirty. Confidence (as always) makes the difference, even in your writing, so just remember that you’re an amazing guy who has a lot to offer when you’re writing your bio.
Be bold with your keystrokes and put these 5 secrets to use, and I guarantee success in your online dating love life because I know that you’re a #ROCKSTAR.
