Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Key To Success: ‘I Could See The Bigger Picture’

The greatest fighter of our generation, the Loud Mouth, the best defensive fighter of all time, the Money Man, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Some love him, many hate him.
Whatever your stance on Floyd Mayweather Jr., you can’t deny that the man is successful, super f*cking successful.
In 2015 Mayweather pulled in $300 million dollars, topping the Forbes list and beating out big name athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Lebron James, becoming the sport’s world top earner.
The much anticipated Mayweather-Pacquiao fight generated $600 million in revenue of which Mayweather earned 60 percent of the pot, pulling in a record $230 million alone!
Mayweather’s career earnings are an estimated $700 million. His professional fighting record speaks for itself. Floyd holds 49 wins, 29 of those by knockout, and 0 losses. He’s virtually untouchable and highly regarded as the greatest of all time.
He’s easily one of the most successful people, not only in business, but in the sports world altogether. So what advice did Mayweather offer? In a recent interview, Floyd shared a secret to his success.

“They see us joking, laughing and smiling but to get a G4 Jet, a G3 Jet, Rolls Royce’s, to get diamond watches, that’s after that’s later on. All I ever wanted to be was the best.”

But even with all of that focus, Floyd blames himself for the future of the sport. “It’s really my fault” he goes on,

“When they’re young and see Floyd Mayweather they watch all access, they see me flashy, flamboyant; I really want to tell these young fighters my main focus, all I really ever wanted to be was the greatest.
“When I went to top rank sometimes, and they would say ‘well we can’t afford to pay you for this next fight.’ I would say well, how much can you pay me? I could see the bigger picture, I wasn’t thinking about just right now.
“Everything I ever wanted in my career. I got. But I had to go out there and produce, It didn’t come overnight.”

Did you catch that?
It isn’t Floyd’s business acumen that made him the man he is today, instead, it is his drive, passion, and dedication to his craft that put him among the most successful people in the world.
